Natural Language Processing for the Legal Domain: A Survey of Tasks, Datasets, Models, and Challenges

This survey examines NLP tasks in the legal domain, including summarisation, named entity recognition, question answering, argument mining, text classification and judgement prediction. It reviews legal language models and approaches to adapting general-purpose models, and discusses challenges posed by long documents, specialised language, limited open data, bias and explainability.
